A message from San Mateo County Sheriff Carlos G. Bolanos

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, Office of Emergency Services (OES) has worked in conjunction with the San Mateo County Emergency Managers to help you answer the question, “Are you prepared?”.

Do you wonder what happened when you are stopped in traffic for an extended amount of time? Do you want to know places that offer sandbags and medical treatment in case of emergency situations?

We encourage you to take the first step in being prepared for an emergency by signing up for our free San Mateo County alert system, SMCAlert

SMCAlert provides emergency alerts on critical incidents such as public safety concerns, road closures, fires, police activity and information on natural disasters. SMCAlert can notify you via email, text or phone call.

The Sheriff’s Office and other County resources train and prepare to be ready for unexpected emergencies; so should you.

OES has created, which has important information to help you be prepared as well as information on putting together safety kits.

Please check out, sign up for SMCAlert, and see how we can help you!

If we can assist you in answering any of your questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at! We are here to help you be prepared.
